One of my favorite BBQ sandwich place. I get mines with extra butter and it makes a different. (Sorry health Folks) I don't eat this offend so when I do its a great spot to grab and enjoy! If your in this part of town do stop by and grab yourself a sandwich.

Hands down, one of the best banh mi shop in Houston. Located in Chinatown, you can’t miss it! It’s always crazy pack so if you’re wanting to grab something to go, call in the order! I don’t really venture off with their other menu items because well frankly, I just love their banh mi! I always get the combination with a fried egg and dude, it’s so good! always ask for extra butter too because why the heck not?!

I love this place. I’ve been going to it for over 3 years. The food is always so good. Customer service isn’t the best but honestly I go for the food💕😍. I’m in love with it. It’s so good. 💕😋If you think customer service is terrible then take it to go. 🙈

Update on the review, this time the baguette was dry and crusty. The grilled pork was burnt and chewy.Popular bustling place with pho and sandwiches! The workers were working hard to keep up with the demand of sandwiches for the lunch crowd. Clean facility with also limited choices for dessert and prepared food. Really delicious sandwiches with perfect fillings.Free parking lot, quick service, cash only.

Me: “Do you guys serve dumplings?”Rude waiter: “No!”We ordered two sandwiches to dine-in, but we got both sandwiches in one basket. When we asked for an extra plate, we got another basket. So I was eating and dropping crumbs all over the table. That was and uncomfortable and messy experience. However, the food it self was delicious and this is why I didn’t rate them one star. The customer service was poor. I’d like to assume it was just a bad day for the staff, but that is still no excuse. Note: a smile goes a long way. :)

Dons cafe is the place to go for banh mi in Houston. They stuff it with meat! Their meatball sandwich is one of the best I've had!

best chinatown sandwiches & good price !

Don cafe is perfect for a comfort meal. It is a small location but I've always found a table to dine in. Even during peak hours. Also, picking up food to go is very fast. So you can order a few Bahn Mi or even Pho to go and you will get it quickly. If you order a Bahn Mi I highly recommend adding an egg, it adds a lot of flavor to it! The Pho is great and it is probably the best I've had in the city. Make sure you bring cash because it is cash only!

Sandwhich taste okay, but they have bad customer service. They charge $5 for extra butter and $2 for extra vegetables. That’s not necessary for business. Other places are free!

They don’t use fresh ingredients and their wait times are too long. I waited 30 min for an order of sandwich and spring rolls. Their vegetables are clearly old - dried out and not fresh.

This time I got a pork banh mi with pattern and a friend egg. Excellent banh mi every time I go. Bread is fresh and the right amount of crunchy and fluffy. Cash only and sometimes you need to wait a long time during peak times. I can't think of a better place for these sandwiches.

The noodles were not fresh made. It was kinda reheated roll of noodles. When I wanted to pull some of the noodles out of my plate to taste. I pulled the whole roll at one scoop, because they were frozen and then reheated. Would definitely not recommend.

This is an old school, authentic Viet sandwich deli. They have been serving sandwiches for 25+ years. This place has been here before Viet sandwiches and Bellaire Chinatown were trendy like it is now. Cheap, good, authentic, fast and not pretentious.

Please be ware that these guys post their time of closing at 9pm but they stop serving 45 min before closing. I came over 30 minutes before closing and the gentleman at the register said I could not get nothing to eat except their sandwiches. Stay away from this business as they can’t even keep the correct closing times.

Terrible customer service stay away from this business. The moment you think your customers are not Important Is when you can loose your business. Customers should always be priority and service should be top notch with respect.

Worst place to order food, rude lady in the front can’t even respect customers, I wanted to order a sandwich and asked what kinds were available and she Questioned me and asked why I don’t know what I want? Cool place except for her

Tuna sandwich is good. Vietnamese coffee is great. Gets busy during lunch but line moves very fast.

Cash only. Best BBQ pork banh mi in town. Does get really busy during lunch so if you are ordering for to-go, I highly recommend to call in the order first.

The best thing about their bahn mi are the prices, very reasonable. But they lack the quality and seasoning of the meats, my baguette was bit dry and not chewy enough. I feel I had much better in San Francisco and Chicago.The Pho was average, not memorable. Wish I liked it as much as our host.

The food was so good and very affordable! Came on a Sunday morning so I guess the service was okay despite other comments saying otherwise. They only accept cash though.

Putting together a sandwich that don’t taste like off the shelf products you can buy at heb is a rare commodity these days. Kinda sad but true... subway!!! Eat fresh? How about fresher and cheaper too? And what else as the main qualifier - tasty and delicious ! I’ve been coming here for a while but it just dawned on me when I had lunch with a friend today that Monday’s are the best time to get banh mis here. Why??? Fresh bread on Monday’s since most bakeries are closed sundays. I noticed the bread was just deathly superb today :)

I love Don Cafe. I've been going there for over a decade. Hands down, they have the best bahn mi ever. No one has been able to replicate it. Their vermicelli is second to none. Definitely recommend it to everyone.

Took about 12 minutes from the Williams Tower to Don Cafe, very fast. Ordered the BBQ Beef, BBQ Chicken, and Don Special banh mi. All 3 were delicious. Would highly recommend.

Had to add this place to my favorite. After we had the sandwiches one time we had to come back for second and third. Expect the lines to be long. The New York “make it quick” kind of staff. But that’s ok, I can handle it if they are this good.

One of my favorite banh mi place in town. Price is good, they are always very quick and they are generous about putting lots meat in all of them. The reason their sandwich is so good is because their bread is very fresh and crispy, even after 1 hour when I eat it, it's still very good. Their Vietnamese coffee is pretty strong, not the best but pretty good. The dish I always order was the snail and meat ball vermicelli. You need to put in enough shrimp paste in order to enough this dish. It might be too stinky for most people's taste. But that's authentic about this place. Tried their cubic steak, very tender. Fried rice is also something I would order if I have more friends to share with me. Overall, service is good most of the time, food is persistently good, and it's a cafe place so don't expect something too fancy then you are good to go.
